Each day, guests will start their morning with a leisurely, nourishing breakfast that perfectly complements the tranquil ambience of this nurturing retreat.
Holistic Practices
On the first day of the retreat, guests will be welcome to a two-hour forest immersion and mindful meditation, by their Holistic Guide, Ann Ward. With over 20 years of meditation practice, Ann possesses a profound spiritual affinity with nature, which she inherited from her mother, hailing from the sacred sites surrounding the volcanic mountain of Slieve Gullion and has a passion for curating skilfully crafted immersive mindfulness experiences, courses, and retreats that synergize meditation and the beauty of the natural landscape.
Accredited as a Meditation Teacher by the British School of Meditation, Ann is also a certified Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) Guide and a Forest Therapy Practitioner through the Nádúr Centre for Integrative Forest Therapy. Her teachings draw inspiration from ancient Eastern traditions as well as contemporary luminaries like Thich Nhat Hanh and Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Forest Bathing/Shinrin-Yoku is an evidence-based wellness practice which evolved in Japan as a stress prevention intervention. Two hours in the forest boosts your immunity for up to ten days. It also boosts mood, energy, and nurtures creativity. You will taste this special landscape during a tea ceremony as part of this experience in the forest with tea specially prepared with herbs and plants from the Estate.
The second day of the retreat will see guests return to the forest, where they will be guided to switch off, deepen their connection with nature and feel the benefits of the wellness practice that is forest bathing.
On the day of departure, guests will enjoy a Forest tea-making workshop with our Executive Chef, Darragh, using seasonal herbs and flowers from the working farm to create their own blends before enjoying the holistic benefits offered by the lush surroundings of the forest.
At Killeavy Castle Estate, we invite you to immerse yourself in the nurturing embrace of nature and discover the transformative power it holds. Amidst the enchanting landscapes and rich heritage of our estate, you will find solace, rejuvenation, and a renewed sense of connection to the world around you.
